Herstart Laboratorium voor Standaard Dosimetrie Gent
Het Laboratorium voor Standaard Dosimetrie van de Universiteit Gent (LSDG) is vanaf 1 juli 2009 terug actief in een samenwerkingsvorm tussen SCK-CEN, Universiteit Gent en het FANC.
De kalibraties zullen worden uitgevoerd door een expert van de dienst Dosimetrie en Kalibratie van het SCK.CEN, dat ook instaat voor het onderhouden en de verdere ontwikkeling van het laboratorium. De infrastructuur van het laboratorium wordt als vanouds geleverd door de Universiteit van Gent.
Het laboratorium blijft gevestigd in de Universiteit van Gent, Proeftuinstraat 86, Gent.

We are pleased to inform you that the Laboratory for Standard Dosimetry (LSD) will restart its activity as from 1st of July 2009.
In the period June 2008- July 2009 no calibration was done at the LSD. During this period the laboratory was reorganized. The laboratory will now function as a collaboration between the University of Ghent and SCK•CEN Mol with the support of FANC. The calibrations will be performed by the personnel of the Laboratory for Nuclear Calibration from the Radiation Protection and Dosimetry expert group of SCK•CEN. This group will also maintain and continue to develop the laboratory. The infrastructure for the laboratory is still provided by the Department of Medical Physics from the University of Ghent. The laboratory will continue to be located on the site of the Department of Medical Physics from University of Ghent, Proeftuinstrrat 86, Ghent.
During the year 2008 a new 60Co source was installed. This will allow us to provide calibration factors determined at higher dose rate then before. Presently the dose rate at the reference distance of 1 m from the source is of the order of 36 Gy/h (reference date March 2008).
We are ready to perform calibrations for absorbed dose in water, in 60Co beam quality, following the IAEA TRS-398 protocol. Later on, the experimental setup and the calibration procedures for the calibrations for air kerma, X-rays and 192Ir will be finished. The activities of the laboratory in Ghent will in the future also be included in the ISO 17025 accreditation of the LNK.
